I've noticed recently that every so often I have driveability issues and can turn the idle screws on the primary side of my 750 Holley double pumper all the way in and the car won't stall. Sounds like a float is either stuck, sunk, or you have a piece of crud between the needle valve and seat (preventing its' closing--- this is my personal favorite).
